New President for the Newport Music FestivalVirginia Gambale, technology leader and music lover, elected at the December board meeting.
Newport, RI; December 4, 2015—The Board of Directors of the Newport Music Festival elected Virginia Gambale as President at its meeting on December 4th. She is the 8th President in the Festival’s 46-year history.
Before going on to earn a masters degree in mathematics and computer science at the New York Institute of Technology, Ms. Gambale studied piano performance at The Juilliard School and the Hartt School of Music.

As Managing Partner of Azimuth Partners LLC, which she founded in 2003, Ms. Gambale operates globally, as an investor & advisor, developing growth strategies, business partnerships and orchestrating successful exits for technology and business service companies. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Jet Blue Airways, First Derivatives and Dundee Corporation.
Ms. Gambale said, “I am excited to step into this leadership role with the Festival, which has an international reputation for excellence. I think my background in both classical music and business will serve the foundation well.” Ms. Gambale has been a member of the board since 2006 and appointed Second Vice-President in 2013.
General Manager Mark Malkovich noted that “This announcement is a fantastic new chapter in the Festival’s history. Virginia is a leader who enjoys a wealth of experience in both the arts and business, and I look forward to working with her more closely to continue bringing great musicians and music to Newport.” The Festival celebrates its 48th season from July 8-24, 2016.
Ms. Gambale is an Adjunct Faculty member at Columbia University and member of the Mentor Faculty and Thesis Evaluation board for the Graduate Masters in Technology Leadership. Ms. Gambale resides in Westport, CT and Newport, RI with her husband, Dr. Austin Feeney, and their two children.
The Newport Music Festival is a world class performing arts organization.
