Newport by car from New York is 3.5 hours via the New England Turnpike, 95 North to Route 138 East, then follow signs to the Newport Bridge; from Boston 90 minutes via Route 24 South to Route 114 South. There is air service to T.F. Green Airport in Providence, with shuttle bus or taxi to Newport, and a full complement of car rental companies. Amtrak has rail service to Providence or Kingston, RI, located 20 miles west of the city. Bonanza Bus provides service from New York to Providence, then RI Public Transit from Providence to Newport. Bonanza Bus services Boston and Logan Airport.

Newport's historic and resort attractions are world-famous and include nine beautiful beaches, the Cliff Walk, Ocean Drive and a series of "firsts" in America: Touro Synagogue, the Redwood Library, the White Horse Tavern, and even America's first organ at famous Trinity Church. The Preservation Society of Newport County, its mansions, The Breakers, Rosecliff, Marble House, The Elms, Chateau-sur-Mer, Kingscote, and Hunter House are open every day of the week with informative guided tours. Belcourt Castle and Hammersmith Farm are also open to tourists and provide excellent tours. The International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Newport Art Museum, the Museum of Newport History, the R.I. Fisherman & Whale Museum,the Newport Aquarium and Salve Regina University, with its beautiful McKillop Library, should also be on your visiting list. Whether it is fine dining, shopping, boating, historic architecture, and the many cultural attractions, Newport has something for everyone.
